I SHALT BECOME “The Pendle Witch Trials” 2009 CD
No Colours Records
As I know, almost all fans into depressive black metal knows this old band from USA (was formed back in 1995 and have 4 full-length albums so far), also if someone don't know, this is one man project just! Well, let's see what's here on the new album. To be honest I didn't wait for some poor stuff from ISB, and I was pleasantly surprised when listen to this CD some times I found this album very interesting and just good. Of course here isn't some masterpiece; nevertheless I can't say that music on this CD is very similar to other collectives. What's from musical side – the whole album is made on one breath, such breath of such total emptiness and obscure melancholy. Raw guitar parts brings dark emotions to the ears, together with gloomy screams and sometimes with keyboards (NOT those sweet! But deep and obscure in it's real way). The rhythm-structure is made by mid parts, deep and catching too. Except of black metal rawness and gloominess here are shown some doom metal parts as well, slow and deep as well. Here can't be written more, as enough will be just say next – if you like depressive black metal – “The Pendle Witch Trials” is 100% for you!
